Musée Fabre is one of the premier cultural sights of Montpellier, located near the city's main square, the Place de la Comédie.
Founded in 1825 by local painter François-Xavier Fabre, the museum underwent a major renovation completed in 2007. Its national importance is officially recognized with the designation Musée de France by the Ministry of Culture.
