The Medici Chapels (Cappelle medicee) are two grand chapels constructed between the 16th and 17th centuries as an extension to the Basilica of San Lorenzo in Florence, Italy. Built to celebrate the powerful Medici family—patrons of the church and Grand Dukes of Tuscany—the complex comprises two key architectural monuments:
- Sagrestia Nuova ('New Sacristy'): A masterpiece designed by Michelangelo.
- Cappella dei Principi ('Chapel of the Princes'): A monumental chapel created through a collaboration between the Medici family and leading architects.
Note: The Medici Chapels are distinct from the Magi Chapel located in the nearby Palazzo Medici Riccardi.
