The Chelsea Art Museum (CAM) was a contemporary art museum located in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. Housed in a renovated 30,000-square-foot (2,800 m²) historic building at 556 West 22nd Street, the museum focused primarily on post-war European art, L'Art Informel, and Abstract Expressionism.
Highlights:
- Miotte Foundation: Located within the building, dedicated to archiving, protecting, and researching the works of Jean Miotte.
- Permanent Collection: Featured approximately 500 works including paintings, etchings, sculptures, ceramics, and tapestries by artists such as Pol Bury, Mimmo Rotella, and Jean-Paul Riopelle.
Note: Following financial difficulties, the museum permanently closed in December 2011.
