The Trondheim Art Museum (Trondheim Kunstmuseum) holds Norway's third-largest public art collection, showcasing works created from 1850 to the present day. Located near Nidaros Cathedral, the main venue at TKM Bispegata hosts temporary exhibitions of regional and international art alongside major Norwegian masterpieces.
Notable works in the collection include:
- Harald Sohlberg's Natt (Røros church) (1904)
- Georg Jacobsen's Haren (1922)
- Peder Balke's Nordkapp (1870s)
Designed by architect Peter Daniel Hofflund, the main building opened in 1930. A 2012 refurbishment modernized its lighting and climate controls while restoring much of the interior to its original 1930 design.
