Eshima Ohashi Bridge

Eshima Ohashi Bridge is a remarkable rigid-frame bridge in Japan connecting Matsue in Shimane Prefecture with Sakaiminato in Tottori Prefecture across Lake Nakaumi. Built between 1997 and 2004, it stands as the largest rigid-frame bridge in Japan and the third largest in the world.
Famous around the globe for optical illusion photos that make it appear unnaturally steep when shot from a distance with a telephoto lens, the bridge actually has a manageable 6.1% gradient on the Shimane side and 5.1% gradient on the Tottori side.
This structure replaced a previous drawbridge that frequently delayed traffic and had strict weight limits, now serving as a major regional link and popular visual attraction.
